The UNESCO Executive Board held its 216th session in Paris

On May 10-24, the 216th session of the UNESCO Executive Board was held in Paris. During the event, in particular, issues regarding the preparation for the 42nd session of the Gen­eral Conference (November 2023) were discussed. The Director-General will present the draft UNESCO Programme and Budget for 2024–2025, the Programme Performance Report for 2022, and the new HR Strategy.

New sites in Russia were added to the Tentative List for nomination to the UNESCO World Heritage List

Four natural and cultural sites in Russia were added to the Tentative List for nomination to the UNESCO World Heritage List. It means that they are one step closer to having their universal value recognized and may be inscribed on the World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. The rules adopted in 2003 stipulate that the World Heritage Committee may only consider sites that were included in a Tentative List developed by a member state.
