of the Russian Federation
for UNESCO
In accordance with the UNESCO Charter, National Commissions responsible for involving the leading educational, scientific, and cultural institutions of the country in UNESCO’s activities should function in all member states of the Organization. Such a body in Russia is the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, which has the status of a government coordinating body.
Its main tasks include facilitating the participation of Russian bodies, organizations, scientists, and specialists in UNESCO events and programs, ensuring compliance with international legal obligations arising from Russia’s membership in UNESCO as well as preparing instructions for official Russian Delegations and delegates in UNESCO bodies.
The general meetings of the Commission, during which the political course of the Russian Federation in relation to UNESCO is developed and approved, are of a regular nature and are convened at least once a year.
Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO
The Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO is the state body of foreign relations of Russia, responsible for the representation of the country in the Organization. It is part of the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The main tasks of the Delegation are to implement the unified political line of the Russian Federation in UNESCO, inform the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO on the activities of the institution, and maintain effective working contacts with the UNESCO Secretariat and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to the Organization.
The Permanent Delegation is headed by the Permanent Delegate appointed by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. Since 2023, this post has been held by Rinat Alyautdinov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. More…

В своей текущей деятельности Комиссия Российской Федерации по делам ЮНЕСКО опирается на работу своих программных комитетов, которые являются консультативными органами, объединяющими ведущих российских специалистов в частных областях компетенции ЮНЕСКО, а также содействие расположенных в России специализированных институтов ЮНЕСКО и отечественных НПО-партнеров Организации.

в России
В списке Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО, насчитывающем на сегодня 1154 наименования в 167 странах, содержится 31 объект из России. Со своими 11 природными и 20 культурными объектами наша страна занимает почетное девятое место в мире.
Из истории сотрудничества
России и ЮНЕСКО
Советский Союз присоединился к ЮНЕСКО в 1954 г., а с 1991 г. его место в Организации на правах государства-продолжателя заняла Российская Федерация. За долгие десятилетия партнерства со всемирным гуманитарным учреждением наша страна внесла заметный вклад в его работу, и по-прежнему остается одним из крупнейших доноров и наиболее активных стран-членов.
