The UNESCO Executive Board held its 216th session in Paris

On May 10-24, the 216th session of the UNESCO Executive Board was held in Paris. During the event, in particular, issues regarding the preparation for the 42nd session of the Gen­eral Conference (November 2023) were discussed. The Director-General will present the draft UNESCO Programme and Budget for 2024–2025, the Programme Performance Report for 2022, and the new HR Strategy.

Members of the Executive Board considered applications for the UNESCO Global Geopark status, nominations to the Memory of the World International Register.

In co-authorship with Belarus, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, and Turkmenistan, Russia put forward a draft resolution “70th Anniversary of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network: Prospects for Development” aimed at more actively involving the Network members in achieving the goals of providing quality education, including preschool and secondary vocational.
