Interministerial Consultations on the Interaction of the CIS Countries within the Framework of UNESCO

Held on April 22 in Moscow, the meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee. A representative of Azerbaijan was present as an observer.

The parties discussed the issues of coordination of activities and joint initiatives of the CIS member states on the platform of UNESCO. They exchanged views on the results of the 219th session of the UNESCO Executive Board and shared their experience in creating and organizing the work of UNESCO program and regional committees. They also considered the issue of preparation for the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee.

Special attention was paid to strengthening collaboration in UNESCO’s networking formats (Associated Schools, Chairs, Biosphere Reserves, Global Geoparks, Learning Cities).

It was decided to continue the practice of holding consultations. At the end of the meeting, the guests took part in the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the USSR’s accession to UNESCO.
