The international conference “The Mystery of the Cross-Domed Structure on the Territory of the Naryn-Kala Fortress. The History of Christianity in Derbent” took place on November 18-20 in Derbent, Republic of Dagestan. The conference was organized by the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and the administration of the City of Derbent.

Patokh Chodiev, a Japanologist, entre­pre­neur, philanthropist and member of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, received one of the most prestigious awards in Japan, the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, for his active long-standing contribution to the strengthening of economic and cultural ties between Japan and Russia. One year earlier, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree awarding Chodiev the Order of Friendship for fostering Russian-Japanese cultural relations.

Industrial architecture is an important aspect of the diverse cultural heritage of Saint Petersburg. Large industrial complexes encircle the classic ensembles of the city center with massive redbrick buildings, giant smokestacks, and water towers.

On September 7, 2020, ten young Russian female scientists were awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO national fellowships “For Women In Science”. This joint project has been carried out in Russia since 2007 with participation of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

Kizhi Pogost is a unique monument of Russian wooden architecture and one of the most widely recognized architectural masterpieces in the world. It displays remarkable structural harmony, proportionality, and the artistic unity of buildings constructed in different periods of time.

The State Museum of Oriental Art is one of the largest museums in Russia, boasting a collection of about 150 thousand items. The oldest exhibits are three to four thousand years old, while the “youngest” serve as examples of contemporary art.
