The editors of the “Vestnik of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO” congratulates its readers on the upcoming New Year holidays!
The final issue of our Magazine in 2019 will tell about the results of the 40th session of the General Conference of UNESCO, when the Russian Federation was elected again to the Executive Council of the Organization, as well as to a number of Program Committees. This result is the recognition of our country’s role as one of its most active members. It will give an additional impetus to the cooperation of Russian State and Non-Governmental offices with UNESCO. It means that interesting and important topics for our Magazine will never run dry in the future.
Participants in the 20th session of the General Assembly of the World Heritage Committee elected Russia to be on the board of this important Governing Body of the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage adopted in 1972. Strict compliance with the requirements of the 1972 Convention is a task of national importance in the Russian Federation. Therefore, this decision of the WHC General Assembly is a great honor and high responsibility for us. We express our gratitude to all Member Countries that supported us during the election.
By tradition, our Magazine will tell in detail about all the significant events that took place in Russia and abroad as far as UNESCO is concerned, and will continue to acquaint the reader with the masterpieces of our country’s tangible and intangible heritage. It is gratifying that for the first time we will also talk in our Magarine about our partners — Belarus and Cuba. We are pleased to invite all national commissions for UNESCO to work together on our Magazine.
