Vladimir region, September 3 – 8
International folk festival "Golden Ring" was held in the Vladimir region for the second time from 3 to 8 September. Its organizers are the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the State Russian House of Folk Art, Vladimir region Department for Culture and Vladimir Regional Center of Folk Art. The festival is held to promote and develop original musical and lyrical, dance, festive and ritual, family and everyday culture.
Vladimir International Forum is held in the traditional for world folk community conjunction with another important event – the International Festival in Moscow. This year the participants of these projects include music, dance and singing collectives from Sri Lanka and Brazil, China, Korea, Portugal and Italy, Serbia, Slovenia and Romania.
Festival gala concerts were held at the Art Palace of Vladimir. They were attended not only by foreign participants of the festival, but also the leading collectives of the Vladimir region, including "Vladimir hornblowers" Ensemble, folk dance group "Dewdrop" and children's studio "Rus".
Traditionally friendly, comfortable, positive atmosphere was created by both the generous hospitality of Vladimir residents, historical and cultural scenery, and inexhaustible creative enthusiasm of participants.
During the festival there were held offsite concerts in the cities and regions of the Vladimir region (Gorokhovetsky, Petushinsky, Kovrovsky, Suzdal region, Alexandrov, Kovrov, Murom, Gus Khrustalny) and creative meetings of guests with local ensembles, workshops on arts and crafts. Official reception of the delegations heads was solemnly held at the House of Friendship on the central square of Vladimir.
The official events were attended by the GRDNT Director Tamara Purtova, chairman of the social policy of the regional administration Alexei Chernyshev and Deputy Director of the Vladimir Region Department of Culture Anna Marchenkova. They all noted the high artistic value of the festival and marked its important role in the preservation of intangible cultural heritage of the peoples of the world.
