The "Issues of education and development of young children" chair will soon begin work at the International Academy of Preschool Education in Moscow.

UNESCO approved the application of the IAPE for the creation of a chair, and work on a draft agreement between the two organizations at UNESCO headquarters is currently underway.

Over the past decade, the program of UNESCO Chairs has become one of the most fruitful initiatives of the Organization, whose enormous potential is recognized by the academic and scientific community all over the world.

There are more than 60 chairs in Russia, but only two of them concern preschool education to one degree or another. According to the plan, the opening of the chair will contribute to large-scale international integration in the studies of childhood. Let us recall, that the cooperation of the IAPE and UNESCO began in 2010 after the first and only conference devoted to the education and training of young children, established by UNESCO, was held in Moscow. Then the Academy initiated a similar event on an annual basis. Since 2011, the International Conference "Early Childhood Care and Education" (ECCE Conference) has been held in Moscow with the support of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, the UNESCO IITE and previously the UNESCO Moscow Office. In 2018, the event was held under the aegis of UNESCO.

During this time, the ECCE Conference has become the leading platform in Russia for discussing the problems of pre-school education and publishing the results of the latest research in the field of child psychology. Every year, the event is attended by scientists and practitioners from 35-40 countries. Within the framework of scientific sections and round tables, there is an active exchange of experience, trends are announced, and current issues are discussed.
