The capital city of Tatarstan is hosting UNESCO Forum on Intercultural Dialogue

The Forum will be held under patronage of Mintimer Shaimiev being the State Counsellor of RT, UNESCO special envoy for intercultural dialogue. Official opening ceremony will take place on 5 September in Kazan City Hall. This event to be attended by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

Tatyana Larionova being Executive Director of Republican Fund "Renaissance" said during a press-briefing that this Forum is expected to be attended by 200 persons from Russian and many countries of the world. Kazan to be visited by UNESCO Deputy Director General Xing Qu; UNESCO Ex-Director General Irina Bokova; UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador poetess Alexandra Ochirova; special envoys for cultural diplomacy Hedva Ser and Judith Pisar; Director of Stat Hermitage, Presidium member of Russian Academy of Science, the president of Russian Theaters Union, a member of Fiduciary Board "Renaissance" Mikhail Piotrovskiy; representatives of International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM); International Council on Monuments and Sites, and other prominent guests.

One of main events of this Forum is a session of the round table "Role of UN and UNESCO in preservation of cultural diversity of humanity as imperative of humanitarian safety and sustainable development". The event will be held in ancient Bolgar. Whereas in ostrov-grad Sviyazhsk, there will be established the first Russian Archaeological Museum of Wood. Under the Forum, there will also be presented a collection of essays and speeches of UNESCO special envoy for intercultural dialogue Mintimer Shaimiev, "From heart - for heart". The book has bee published in three languages: Russian, Tatar, and English. Tatyana Larionova noticed that the title of UNESCO special envoy is very honorary. Throughout the world, there are only 12 persons including Mintimer Sharipovich who have been endowed with this status.

Ramil Khayrutdinov, Director of International Affairs Institute at KFU, noticed that the scientific agenda of this Forum is very packed. The Forum will be attended by famous experts, scientists from Russia, CIS, and Europe, representatives of Russian and foreign scientific and educational centers.

Students will be given the option of familiarization with the project "UNESCO Youth Model" prepared under Kazan Federal University. A special conference will be dedicated to 65-anniversary of International Network of Associated Schools of UNESCO. It comprises approximately 11 thousands of educational organizations of UNESCO throughout the world. In the Russia, there is 369 associated schools,13 located in Tatarstan thereof. The conference to be attended by 250 students, young scientists from various Russian Universities, and national coordinators from 25 countries of the world.

Besides that, participants of the Forum will be given the option to visit related to Kazan International Festival of Islamic Cinema to be held in our city from September 5. The Festival motto matches the topic of the Forum and is as follows: "Through dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue".
