On February 1, the memorial event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazi troops by the Soviet troops in the Battle of Stalingrad took place in the Reception House of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the diplomatic corps, both chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, public and veteran organizations, and mass media took part in the event.
Speaking at the event, Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, noted the contribution of the Soviet diplomacy to the common cause of protecting the Fatherland which helped to strengthen the anti-Hitler coalition and create the most favorable international conditions for an early defeat of the enemy.
Sergey Lavrov stressed that putting a reliable barrier in the way of spreading ideas of intolerance, xenophobia, racial, national or other superiority is our sacred duty to those who paid with blood and life to save the humanity from the horrors of the "brown plague".
During the event, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition of documents and materials from the Archives of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation and the Russian State Film and Photo Archive.
