On June, 1 the Children’s Art Department of the Orlyonok Center organized a lesson of peace for one of the session camp-teams. The tutors introduced the kids into the Japanese tradition of making paper cranes which are considered to symbolize peace, health and longing for life.

This activity was followed by “The Crane of Peace” event. Children held a master-class for the rest of the session participants and representatives of other camps. They made about 400 origami-style cranes and attached them to the emblematical Pillar of Peace with a four-language inscription saying May peace prevail on Earth for the whole humankind. This event also featured the Planet of Good Spirit drawing contest performed on the asphalt with chalk. Children composed a written Mail of Peace, addressing the both peers and adults.

In the afternoon the campers visited the Aviation and Cosmonautics House. During this tour they examined unique exhibits: the cabin of multi-seater spaceship of Voskhod type, artificial Earth satellites, samples of space-rocket hardware, spacesuits, pilot suits and a lot of other interesting things.

At the Welcome Party the Forum participants will get acquainted with the session program, the team-counselors and the Solnechny Children’s Camp work arrangements.
